California governor calls for unprecedented water conservation measures

California Governor Jerry Brown ordered water conservation measures throughout the state in light of the drought that has plagued many parts of western United States over the past several years. The governor has ordered cities, towns and other communities to reduce water consumption by 25 percent. All business and homes will be impacted with the lone exception being farm lands. The new rules were put in place after officials noted record low snowpack in the mountains this winter.
