President announces slowdown of troop withdrawal from Afghanistan

President Obama told reporters yesterday that he has decided to delay a planned withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan this year and will instead maintain a force of 9,800 soldiers in that country. He added that troop levels will be reduced next year as dictated by conditions on the ground.
