Computer, phone extortion attacks doubled last quarter

A type of virus that can attack both computers and smartphones/tablets has doubled in the number of users struck over just the past three months according to security software maker McAfee Labs. The virus prevents users from accessing their own data until the user pays some amount of money to the hackers who created it.
